We were so excited to host Arnon Thitiprasert, the 2017 World Latte Art Champion at BlendIn Coffee Club for an intensive two-day latte art training followed by a Latte Art Throwdown competition.
During the two-day latte art training, Arnon shared his experience and knowledge of the coffee industry and gave us all a deeper understanding and appreciation for coffee. His perseverance and passion for excelling shows through his teaching methods and we were all able to walk away having learned a great deal.
After the two day training, the most exciting part – Latte Art Throwdown with the World Champion was on July 3rd. We were excited to host our very first throwdown at BlendIn. Arnon Thitiprasert – World Latte Art Champion 2017, David Buehrer – owner of Greenway Coffee, and Helen Choi – owner of Luce Ave Coffee Roasters, were the team of judges that selected the winners from a bracket of 32 competitors.
Spots filled up quickly for the bracket and featured baristas from around the Greater Houston area. There were a total of 5 rounds, with a unique pour each round that the baristas had to create including a heart, tulip and rosetta.
For the fourth round of the competition, Arnon poured several of his signature latte art designs and the baristas had to replicate it. The fifth round was barista’s choice.
Congratulations to our top three winners — Benjamin Clark, Mark Hernandez, and Antoine Franklin.
We want to thank everyone who supported during this event and for those who help make this all happen. We would like to express our gratitude to Arnon and all the sponsors for their support in making this event a success.
Here at BlendIn, we always want to be a place where all coffee lovers can get together. A true coffee club experience!
