Samaipata Batian
Regular Offering – 300g
The Batian lot combines coffee from four Fincas Los Rodríguez farms in Samaipata. These farms, owned by Pedro Rodríguez, are at 1,600-1,800m elevation. Batian, named after Mt. Kenya’s peak, was bred by Kenya’s Coffee Institute in 2010. It’s successful in Kenya and gaining traction among Latin American growers due to its adaptability, starting coffee production in the second year compared to the three years needed for traditional varieties. Batian’s rust and disease resistance, plus exceptional cup quality, stem from its relation to Kenya’s flavorful SL-28 and SL-34 varieties.
