In this year’s Hacienda La Esmeralda Auction, we were able to win 3kg of lot ES-W-4, Montana San Jose Washed, with a price of $1000/kg.
Harvested in the Montana lot of Canas Verdes on March 18th, this Geisha was fermented with yeast in closed tanks from March 18th to March 21st (60 hours), and dried on raised beds from March 21st to May 6th (46 days), and then dried for 8 hours on the patio, making it the longest dry in the auction lineup.
Hacienda La Esmeralda was founded by the Peterson family. Esmeralda is renowned worldwide for the rediscovery of Geisha varietal in Panama. In 2004, Esmeralda won the Best of Panama Competition with their Geisha for the first time. Their Geisha is famous for the delicate floral notes and extraordinary complexity.
